Ode to the Wonderful Wedding Show

Deep Breath-
It's over!!

Well, If you are getting married, chances are you attended the Wonderful Wedding Show this weekend. My favorite thing about the weekend is visiting with all of my future brides (and lots from the past too!) I was sad this year that I didn't have a lot of open dates (so many people get engaged during the holidays and are still looking to book for this summer!) If you are one of these and have landed here, hit me with an email, I have some suggestions of wonderful photographers that might still have the day open.
I wanted to say a special thanks to Madeline's Weddings who supplied all the table linens for my setup, Nicole who helped me set up, take down and stood with me for 14 hours ;-) and Karen for the centerpiece that looked so very wonderful!

As with last year, our display table with our "damask" invite was a hit- I am predicting now that at least HALF of my weddings are running with the damask theme (based on brides at the show) If you are looking for a package for your reception venue stationary (and we have lots of designs other than damask (-:) you can see samples for menus, favor tags, and table numbers HERE. Nicole (my design partner in crime) can make anything to suit your style!

I also used the opportunity to not drag photo albums with me this year and made a few coffee table type portfolios to display some work. These books are an economical alternative to many album styles that typically cost 800.00 or more! These are hard covered image wrapped 12x12 books with 40 plus pages of vivid color and images from your day. These books do not fingerprint like many of the photo albums and are so nice as a parent or grandparent gift....ask me how to add one of these to your wedding package!

Karen's Got Balls!

Minds outta the gutter :-D
Flower Balls!
Sometimes the generosity of people amazes me! Some time ago, I had the honor of being the photographer at Karen and Darryl's wedding and admired ALL of her decor that she had made HERSELF! When I started planning a table at the Wonderful Wedding Show to display one of our invitation packages, I fondly remembered her beautiful and "pink" center pieces and asked if i could borrow a setting. Unfortunately, the venue of her reception had bought them from her (yes- they are that good!) I was overwhelmed when she showed up at my door right as I packing all the goods to set up for the show with a brand new ball and all the decor to match!
We then got to talking about all the colors that she could make these. LIGHT BULBS!

If you are still looking for a centerpiece of hanging balls for you ceremony aisles, contact me for Karen's information. With her own wedding finished, she may be itchin' to burn her fingers on the hot glue gun. Pricing is reasonable and they are BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you so much Karen!

Karen and Darryl- Horse shoes up my.... :)

Sometimes it's hard for me not to feel like I am one of the luckiest photographers in the world!
The forecast for last weekend- Rain Rain Rain! Not a 60 percent chance, just RAIN. Not what you want to hear when you are set to photograph a wedding (or have your own wedding!)
But the weather spirits were good to us....almost to the minute that the ceremony ended the rain STOPPED and didn't start again! That was my lucky number 1 of the day!
And look at this- my FAVORITE- Pink!!! I loved loved loved Karen's shoes!
And it didn't really hurt that my bride looked like this- and came prepared with parasols and
pashminas!

Another miraculously talented bride! Everything was done by Karen! The decor was fabulous! The reception was held at the Studios in the Exchange- it looked fantastic!

And one last mention of a really neat idea....Karen used our shots from her engagement session and had a photo book made to use as her signing book when people came to the reception. It was also a big hit and is a real nice memento to look back on for years to come!

Wedding Snippet!

Just a very quick post regarding my wedding this past weekend! I still have SO MANY pictures to sift through but I thought for all you do-it yourself brides out there, this might be worthwhile!

Have a look at the decor at Apryl and Trevor's wedding- APRYL DID IT ALL HERSELF! Everything looked so amazing- it was truly un-real and I have never seen the banquet room at St. Boniface Golf course look this fabulous- EVER! Even the cake was made by Apryl and her Mom!
And have a look at this cake topper! Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE CAKE TOPPERS! I will file this one with my favorites!

Take notes Nicole, I think we will have to duplicate those centerpeices for YOUR wedding! Did you make that guest list yet!? :)

Meghan and Ryan

Okay- so yes, I am much more than a week late on this post :-) This is the third slide show in a series that I promised almost a couple weeks back!
First off, I want to say I LOVE THIS!! (see the image below) If I ever take that walk down an isle let it be carpeted in rose petals!! It is a dream wedding of mine to shoot that has every square inch covered in flower petals. I see it a ton in wedding magazines and would LOVE to see this double next season!

Meghan and Ryan got hitched at the Leo Mol gardens and the weather turned out to be FANTASTIC! Despite a near minor heart attack I had the morning of (when you can't even find the brides' home on Google Maps (-:) I made it there and the day went off without a flaw!

I have posted a small slide show from the day HERE
